Rishi Kumar Shukla Biography 
Rishi Kumar Shukla is an Indian administrator who has been appointed as new director of CBI on 2nd February 2019. He is an IPS officer belonging to MP cadre. CBI chief’s post has been lying vacant since January 10 after the unceremonious exit of Alok Verma. The bitter fights between Alok Verma and his colleague Rakesh Asthana over corruption charges created great headlines since late last year. A lot of controversy and debates have also been witnessed in the recent times related to the issue of Indian administration. Shukla’s name was shortlisted one day before his name was announced on Saturday. His name has been fixed for the next two years.
Shukla is a 1983 batch IPS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre. He is the present chairman of Madhya Pradesh Police Housing Corporation in Bhopal. He formerly served as Director General of Madhya Pradesh Police. His transfer to police housing corporation happened most recently only. Alok Verma was supposed to take over charge of Fire Services, Civil Defence and Home Guards as Director General. But he did not accept the offer.
He served as the DGP of Madhya Pradesh during June 30, 2016 – January 30, 2019. Shukla was the first chief of Madhya Pradesh police to have an official twitter handle. During his tenure as DGP, he had chalked out a major reform strategy to identify corrupt police officials. Around 170 policemen were later dismissed from service due to various disciplinary reasons. He is also known for his work against terrorism.
Appointed as the new director of Central Bureau of Investigation, Shukla will now head the investigating agency for the next two years. He was chosen from a list of over 30 contenders for the top post. He will now have to investigate a series of cases such as 2G Scam, Coal Scam, FIR against the corporator Chanda Kochhar, Agusta Westland Scam etc.
