Rii Sen Biography

Rii Sen is a Bengali film actress best known for her work on Gandu (2010), Bishh (2009), Cosmic Sex (2015) and Charuulata 2011 (2012). In 2012, she won the best actress award at Osian's Cinefan Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema for the movie - Cosmic Sex. Her real name is Rituparna Sen. In 2009 she appeared in 2 documentary films - Love in India and Many Stories of Love And Hate.

 

Known for her bold avatar in most of her roles, Sen is regarded as a prominent actress of alternative Bengali cinema and she was shot for frontal nudity scenes in Qaushik Mukherjee's Gandu and Amitabh Chakraborty's Cosmic Sex. She has been a part of several controversial movies also. She along with Paoli Dam is credited as only two Bengali actresses to shoot full nude scenes and Rii is the first one to go full nude for a Bengali film, though Paoli’s Chatrak was released earlier.

 

Rii Sen was born as Rituparna Sen on 26 July 1978. She started her career as a model in 2003 and also worked in television before her foray to movies. The unreleased ‘Tepantorer Mathe’ – was her debut movie. It was followed by two documentaries - Love in India and Many Stories of Love And Hate. In 2009 she got noticed for her role as a college student in Bissh, directed by Qaushiq Mukherjee.

 

Gandu (2010) was her first movie as a lead protagonist. Though known for the nude and explicit scenes, Rii’s performance in the film was appreciated by critics. She played a small role in Autograph same year. Koyekti Meyer Golpo (2012), directed by Subrata Sen and Tasher Desh, directed by Q aka Qaushiq Mukherjee (2013) are other releases. Cosmic Sex (2015) is her latest releases. Byanka Prithibi is her upcoming movie, directed by Anirban Mukherjee.
