Ricky Kej Biography

Ricky Kej is an Indian music composer and producer, born in North Carolina, USA who works primarily in New Age and World Music. He is also a keyboard player and guitarist for a number of bands and creates radio and television jingles. He has released several private albums till no and seven of them on the Virgin EMI record label. He created the opening ceremony song for the 2011 Cricket World Cup. In 2012, he was awarded by VH1 as India Rules – Artist.

 

Kej was born in North Carolina on 5 August 1981 and moved to India at a young age. His schooling and college studies were done in India. He completed his schooling at Bishop Cotton's Boy's High School, Bangalore. His musical experiments began with his college days and later he took it seriously. He has worked as keyboard and guitar player for various Rock bands in India. He completed BDS course in the year 2005. Rather than starting his career as a dentist, he chose music. He began his career composing jingles for ads and radio programs. Over a period of 13 years, he produced over 3000 jingles for TV and Radio.

 

Un 2003 Kej released his first International lounge album titled 'Communicative art - Lounge from the bay' and its compilation album was reelased over 20 countries worldwide. His compilation album titled ‘Asha Waali Dhoop’, which was released in 2006. He got appreciation from India as well as US. Later he released two music albums in USA with Water Music Records USA titled 'Kamasutra Lounge part 1 & 2'. He went on to win several international awards at several award functions like - Clio Awards and Adfest Asia Awards. In 2013, Ricky released his first independent albums in U.S.
