Richard Rahul Verma Biography 
Richard Rahul Verma is the 25th US ambassador to India. Parents of Richard R Verma originally came from Punjab and (his mother had come to India from Pakistani Punjab after the partition). His father was once jailed during British rule in India.
His Father had a PhD in English and Mother a masters in literature. Richard Verma's father migrated to America in 1963 with only $24 in his pocket and later rest of his family members joined him in the United States. Incidentally, Richard Rahul Verma is the youngest of five siblings.
R Rahul Verma attended a public school in the Westmont Hilltop School District and graduated from Lehigh University BS, Industrial Engineering, American University Washington College of Law (JD), and Georgetown University (LLM).
Richard R Verma Joined US Air Force as a Judge Advocate, he also worked as a lawyer at a law firm Steptoe and Johnson and later became a senior adviser to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in 2002. In 2007 Richard joined the State Department as Assistant Secretary of State. He resigned the State Department and joined Washington, D.C. office of Steptoe & Johnson as a senior counselor in 2011.
President Obama nominated Richard R Verma as the next U.S. Ambassador to India in September 2014 and finally Richard Rahul Verma was posted Indian ambassador on 16 January, 2016.
Richard R Verma loves watching Indian movies. He especially praised Sharukh Khan’s movie ‘Chak De India’ for the wonderful message the film delivers. He says, ‘the movie has a classical theme that shows how to achieve success fighting against injustice which is common in almost every society’.
