Richa Panai Biography

Richa Panai is an Indian actress who concentrates on Malayalam and Tamil movies most.  She became a popular face in Kerala since her ad on Bhima Jewellery became an instant hit. Though she is a North Indian girl born in Lucknow, she got through the auditions held for Bhima Jewellers and her ad as a traditional Kerala girl clicked too.

Richa is born and brought up in Lucknow. Her parents are Surendra Pal Singh and Shakuntla Panai. Her dream was to become a model and an actress. She has won Miss School and Miss Lucknow during her school days. She was born in a conservative family and it was not an easy task for her to get a nod from her parents. After graduation, she worked as an airhostess and was simultaneously looking out for modeling assignments. After the ad of Bhima, she got numerous Malayalam assignments and very soon she got film offers too.

She made her debut in the 2011 film Vaadamalli. Same year two more movies were released – Sandwich opposite Kunchakko Boban and Bangkok Summer opposite Unni Mukundan. She won the Asianet Film Awards for Best New Face of the Year 2012. In 2012, she debut Telugu movies with Yamudiki Mogudu and her second movie, Manasunu Maaya Seyake is to release this year. Very soon her next Malayalam movie – Nayattu will be released.

Her debut movie – Vaadamalli was the debut movie of its director, Albert Antoni also. It was a critically well acclaimed movie and received positive responses from critics. Richa Panai was paired opposite another debutant Rahul Mahadev in this movie. This movie also starred a group of new actors like Ramesh Raveendran, Pradeep Chandran, Jyothi Chatterji and Bijukuttan. It was a campus love story. Sandwich released on October 14, 2011 got mixed response. Kunchakko played a high-profile software engineer while Richa played his love interest.
