Renu Desai Biography

Renu Desai is a former model and actress who was earlier married to Telugu superstar Pawan Kalyan. The couple has two children in the wed lock. Prior to entering movies in the late 1990s, she was a popular model. She is best known for appearing in Shankar Mahadevan’s music video – Breathless in 1998, which shot him to instant fame and popularity. Desai is now active in film scene as a producer and director in Marathi film scene. As a film director, Ishq Wala Love in 2014 was her last release, starring Adinath Kothare and Sulagna Panigrahi.

Renu was quite active in the film scene as an actress before she settled with married life.  She has been paired with Pawan Kalyan in a couple of Telugu movies in the early 2000s - Badri and Johnny. She married Pawan in 2009 and had two children – son Akira and daughter Aadhya. Renu a Maharashtrian reached Hyderabad from Pune at the age of 18 for her first film – Badri. For her it was love at first sight, and later Pawan proposed her. She was not aware then he is a divorcee. Later when she came to know it, she took it cool.

They got married one year later against her parents’ wish, though not officially. They tied knot at Pawan’s house in 2002 as legal procedures of his first divorce were not completed. Akira was born to them in 2004 and Aadhya in 2010. They officially got married in 2009 after Pawan officially got divorced from his first wife. Their marriage survived only four years till their breakup in 2013, and a long relationship of over a decade. Pawan used to call Renu ‘Subamma’ or simply ‘Su’.

Though they got separated, they respected each other’s privacy and she rubbished the romours that she got 40 crores for separation.  After she got separated she moved to Pune and got active with Marathi movies as a filmmaker. Pawan later married his long-time partner Russian Anna Lezhneva the same year in December. Renu didn’t raise any objections for his marriage in one-month notice period and later produced Marathi movies like Mangalashtak Once More. She now dreams to introduce her son Akira to movies. Her hobbies are reading, sketching and horse riding. For Renu, she believes in the principle of ‘One Life and One Love’ and not wants to remarry.
