Razia Sultana was trained to lead armies and administer kingdoms as per the custom of the times, in case the pricces was to rule the kingdom. Incidentally, Razia preferred to be called as Sultan and not Sultana. Razia was also famous for her love story with Malik Altunia aka Ikhtiyar-ud-din Altunia who was the lover and husband of Razia Sultan for a brief period and the governor of Bhatinda, Punjab.

Malik Altunia and Razia were childhood friends, and Malik wanted to be her husband but when he became the governor of Bhatinda, Razia Sultan was attracted to slave named Jamaluddin Yaqut whom she had brought into main stream of the kingdom and he was gratful to Razia for her efforts.
