Ravi Varma Biography

Ravi Varma is a film actor associated with Telugu film industry. He mostly portrays supporting roles and parallel leads. He debuted with Vennela, which released in 2005 where he played parallel lead. The romantic comedy film directed by Deva Katta was declared a cult hit. He reprised the role of Jaya Surya in the Telugu remake of Malayalam blockbuster Classmates, released with the same name. He was seen in the role of a student political leader in the film. He is a trained Bangra dancer. He also acted in a TV serial named “Mogalirekulu” aired on Gemini TV. He has completed 10 years in acting field.

He was born in East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh. At the age of two his family shifted to Hyderabad where he was brought up. He completed his engineering degree at Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology in Hyderabad, followed by Master’s in Computer Science in New York. Later he worked in Rediff for a while before he pursued his true passion of acting. He also did a short term acting course at New York Film Academy, while he was working at Rediff. Vennela marked his acting debut in films, and the movie fared well at box office too. Since then he is associated with Tollywood playing supporting roles.

He trained as a Kathak dancer when he was a class three student and later studied Bhangra extensively for eight years. He also competed in mime competitions since his academic years. He worked as production assistant for a few years for movies such as ‘Hollywood Bollywood’ before he pursued acting. He played parallel lead in ‘Nuvve’. Bommarillu, Sainikudu and Rakhi are other noted works. Terror, Kshanam, Srimanthudu, Asura and Tungabhadra are among his recent releases.
