Ratnaja Biography

Ratnaja is a film director and screenwriter associated with Kannada film industry known for producing highly acclaimed movies. His movies have met with critical and commercial success and he believes in quality stuff – the director who has made only 4 movies in the past 11 years. Ratnaja has delivered many commercial hits like Premism. His debut film Nenapirali released in 2005 won numerous awards including Filmfare Award for Best Director and Best film. The movie also won second best film at Karnataka State Awards. Honganasu (2008) and Premism (2010) are his other releases and his movie Preethiyalli Sahaja is scheduled to get released in 2016. Suhasini Maniratnam is to play a pivot role in this upcoming flick.

 

Ratnaja is known for his penchant to find the right kind of actress for his film roles. In fact he has given good breaks to many of actors to film industry. Vidya Venkatesh, Anjali, Aqsa Bhatt etc are are the actress who have made their Kannada film debut through Ratnaja roles. Also the struggling actor of Kannada film industry Chetan Chandra also received a major breakthrough role through his film – Premism released in 2010. The movie was well appreciated for its script as well as lead actress Amulya’s acting performance also.

 

His full name is Rathnaja Prakash. He was born in Karnataka. He holds an engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from National College of Engineering, Mysore. After completing his Engineering course, his passion to movies drew him to cinema, where he worked as an assistant director under many directors like Dinesh Baboo and SV Rajendra Singh Baboo for more than 5 years before making his directorial debut through Nenapirali released in 2005. The movie starred fresh faces. But the director received a major breakthrough to his career.
