Rathna Shekar Reddy Biography

Rathna Shekar Reddy is a young theatre personality and film actor from Hyderabad. He is the co-founder of theatre group Samahaara. He is a gold medal winner of MA in Theatre Arts at Central University, Hyderabad and also did theatre course from Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, New York before his return to hometown and the starting of ‘Samahaara’. Purushotham, Dominic Wesley, Last Wish Baby and Gregor Samsa are his critically acclaimed theatre productions. He has directed 12 plays till now. Apart from direction, he has acted in several Telugu movies, short films, commercials and corporate films. He is also known for training actors and conducting workshops.

 

He was born and brought up in Hyderabad where he completed his education. He belonged to an agriculture family and has also assisted his father in farming while doing his studies. He holds an MBA degree, an MPA from University of Hyderabad and has also trained as an actor & director at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, New York. His theatre group Samahaara was founded after that. Anjali Parvati Koda, a noted playwright is its co-founder. ‘The Crest of the Peacock’ was the first theater production under this group, which became successful.

 

Purushotham-He, the Victim of Spiders and Pressure Cookers are the critically acclaimed productions of this group. The group also included many workshop productions. Under this leadership this thetare group has become successful in making theater plays popular among youth. The group has also organized four editions of The Hyderabad Theatre Festival since 2009. They emphasized on quality and made major efforts in bringing together the various amateur and professional theatre groups in Hyderabad.
