Rana Ranbir Biography

Rana Ranbir is a popular actor associated with Punjabi cinema. This Patiala based actors plays lead and supporting roles in Punjabi movies, and is a great stage actor and comedian too. Associated with Punjabi cinema since 2006 he has completed one decade in the industry. He played the role of Shampy Singh Chawla in the popular movie - Jatt & Juliet and its sequel. Punjab 1984, Oh Yaara Ainvayi Ainvayi Lut Gaya, Munde U.K. De, Fer Mamla Gadbad Gadbad, Channo Kamli Yaar Di, Ardaas etc are some of his popular roles where he played lead and supporting roles. Ardaas and Channo Kamli Yaar Di are his recent releases. He also scripted the film – Ardaas. He has played some memorable supporting roles on Punjabi big screen.

 

His full name is Ranbir Singh Rana. He belongs to Dhuri of Punjab. He completed graduation from his hometown. Later he took Master’s in theater and television from Punjabi University, Patiala. He is active with stage shows and comedies since early 2000s. He also appeared in a few comedy shows on television. Some of such popular shows include Jugnu Mast Mast, Naughty No. 1 etc. Chitta Lahoo and Parchavain are the TV dramas he associated with and he has also hosted the Punjabi’s road show Excuse Me Please. He was introduced to TV by Gurbir Singh Grewal through the show Parchhawain.

 

He has been active in Punjabi theatre since then. Rana was awarded a gold medal for his play, Mitti Da Moh. He has also scripted and directed a few plays. He also published an anthology of Punjabi poems titled - Kin Min Tip Tip. Rabb Ne Banaiyan Jodiean and Dil Apna Punjabi are his early releases and he gained momentum since early 2010s. His character of Lakad Chab in the film Dil Apna Punjabi was his breakthrough role, followed by Shampy in Jatt & Juliet.
