Ramesh Pokhriyal Biography 
Ramesh Pokhriyal is an Indian politician of Bharatiya Janata Party who is serving as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. He assumed this position on 27th June 2009 after the massive victory of BJP in 2009 elections. He was elected from the Thalisain constituency and succeeded Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri.
He was born on 15th August 1958 in Pinani Village in Pauri Garhwal district in Uttar Pradesh. He belonged to a poor family but was very intelligent in his childhood days. In his school days he was made as the head boy of the school. He started his career as a journalist and he has written many books. He came to know about Jansangh and later about BJP through RSS. He became the Central Spokesman of the Uttaranchal Pradesh Sangharsh Samiti.
In 1991, he was elected to the Vidhan Sabha of Uttar Pradesh for the first time from Karnaprayag constituency. He was again elected from the same place in 1993 and 1996 and in 1997 he became the Minister of Uttaranchal Development in Uttar Pradesh state assembly. He lost in Thalisain constituency in 2002 in the Uttaranchal Vidhan Sabha election. He contested in the 2007 elections from the same constituency and won this time.
In 2000 he was made as the Finance Minister of Uttarakhand in the government of Nityanand Swami. He popularized and publicized the dance and drama series of Bharat. He established many music colleges and Bhatkhande Cultural University. He is also a writer and a poet and some of his works include Samarpan, Navankur, Mujhe Vidhata Banana Hai, Tum Bhi Mere Saath Chalo, Jeevan Path Mein, Bas Ek Hi Ichchha, Desh Hum Jalane Na Denge and Bheer Sakshi Hai, etc.
He took active part in the Ramjanma Bhoomi Struggle and was noted for his brutal cultural speeches. He was accused of corruption but BJP did not take any action against him. However they decided not to retain him as the chief ministerial candidate for the state election in 2012.
