Ramesh Aravind Biography

Ramesh Aravind is a south Indian actor who works in leading and supporting roles. He is a director and screenwriter too. He works most for Tamil and Kannada movies. His supporting role in Prabhu-Meenakshi Sheshadri starrer Duet, Sathi Leelavathi, America America, Nammoora Mandara Hoove, Ulta Palta, Hoomale and Amrutha Varshini are a few noted roles. Aravind has also hosted popular television shows - Preetyinda Ramesh for Kasturi TV and Raja Rani Ramesh for ETV Kannada. Ramesh Aravind's first directorial venture was Rama Shama Bhama, a Kannada movie released in 2005 with Kamal Haasan in the lead role. He played supporting role as well. He scripted the national award winning film Hoomale in 1998. He has acted in more than 120 movies including Malayalam, Telugu and Hindi. His career spans to about 25 years.

Ramesh Aravind hails from Bangalore. He is a Bachelor of Engineering graduate from UVCE, Bangalore University. He is married to Archana and the couple has two kids. He was introduced to films by K. Balachander with 1984 hit Sundara Swapnagalu. K. Balachander gave him the first Telugu movie, Rudraveena and the first Tamil movie, Manathil Uruthi Vendum also, where he played supporting roles. Hit Tamil movie, remembered for beautiful composition of Rahman, Anjali Anjali was also directed by Balachander.

Throughout his career, he has won multiple awards at State award functions as well as Filmfare for multiple categories. 1997 proved to be the milestone year of his acting career. In 1997, he won Karnataka state award for best actor for the movie, America America. Same year, the movie Amrita varshini gave him Filmfare best actor award. He has also received Udaya TV best actor award for the movie, ‘O’ Mallige. The movies, Amrita varshini and America America earned him best actor award at Screen Videocon awards.
