Rama Rao Bodduluri Biography

Rama Rao Bodduluri is a politician and film producer from Andhra Pradesh. Bodduluri is the President of Andhra Pradesh temple union employees, and also a member of Central Board of Film Certification of Andhra Pradesh. Rama Rao is a former MLA of Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly. Noted film actor Gopichand Lagadapati is his grandson. He co-produced Gopichand Lagadapati’s first Telugu film as a producer - Mr. Medhavi in 2007. However the movie was a box office failure. Rama Rao has played the cameo roles of a politician in Telugu films - Eenadu and Bharat Bandh. A patron of art and theatre, he is actively associated with many cultural activities.

 

He was born in Rami Reddypally village in the Krishna district. A well-known personality of Kamma community, he is active in politics too. He has served as an MLA of Andhra Pradesh Legislature. He was elected from Jaggayyapet constituency in 1978. His son Venkateswararao Bodduluri, is also a noted politician belonging to Telugu Desam party. His daughter was married to a Telugu professor, Sangaiah Lagadapati, and the couple’s son Gopichand Lagadapati is now involved with movies and television, in the roles of actor and director.

 

Got associated with politics in the 1970s, after his term as MLA, he was inactive in the political scene for almost two decades. Though he filed nominations for MLC in 2009, he withdrew his nomination. He stood as a strong supporter of Jai Andhra Movement and Telangana movement. Bodduluri had a brief stint in Telugu film industry. Apart from being a producer, he also played the role of a presenter for a few movies like Dhoorapu Kondalu and Maa Inti Devata.
