Rajlaxmi Khanvilkar Biography

Rajlaxmi Khanvilkar is a former model in the 1990s. A super model, she remained a very successful model of her times, and has featured in many popular music videos of 1990s. She was earlier married to hot model Sameer Soni in the 1990s, and Bollywood actor Rahul Roy of Aashique fame in the 2000s. She was also known by the name, Rajlaxmi R. Roy post her second marriage in 2000. However they got separated in 2014. In 2001, she appeared in a brief role in Shah Rukh starrer, Asoka. She was seen in an item song. Post her modelling days and settled with marriage life, she has opened her own Hair and Makeup studio in Sydney called Rani, in the early 2010s.

Rajlaxmi Khanvilkar was born in a Marathi-speaking family in Mumbai on October 14, 1976. Her father, Manmohan is an Interior Decorator, Builder and an architect. She studied in BPM High School in Khar, Mumbai, and completed her diploma from Mithibai College, Vile Parle, Mumbai. She was born into a conservative family, with no background history related to fashion or films. She was not permitted to wear high fashion dress or work in movies. Yet she convinced her family and pursued a career in modelling which she succeeded. Her chiseled face and slim good looks caught everyone's eye and Rajlaxmi took modeling as a full-fledged career. She started modelling during her graduation years.

She started her first ad campaign with Garden Vareli in the mid-1990s. Very soon she turned to be one of the most sought female faces of Indian fashion scene. She remained at career peak during 1993-2004. Her Cadbury's chocolate ad is very popular. She hosted the show, BPL Oye on television, and also appeared in some music videos with Shaimak Devar and other artists.

In 1996, she met fellow-model, Sameer Soni, during the Cadbury campaign. Sameer too was a glowing male model in the second half of 1990s. They both got married. But it lasted only 7 months, and ended in a divorce. Rajlaxmi got married to Bollywood actor Rahul Roy, and Sameer Soni later married Bollywood actress Neelam Kothari. But this marriage too didn’t sustain, and the couple got separated in 2014. Rahul is currently dating super model Sadhna Singh.
