Raja Abel Biography

Raja Abel is a Telugu film actor from Visakhapatnam. He played both lead and supporting roles for Telugu movies. He played lead roles in two Tamil films – Kanna (2007) and Jagan Mohini (2009). Associated with movies as an actor since 2002, his last release was ‘Parking’ in 2016. He played the lead role in the Telugu movie Anand and a few more movies. He also played parallel lead roles. He campaigned for the political party YSRCP in 2014 general assembly elections. He got married to Amrita Vincent in 2014 and the couple has one daughter.

Raja Abel, popularly called Raja was born in Visakhapatnam on November 9, 1978. His father was from Andhra Pradesh and his mother, an Anglo Christian from London. His grandfather belonged to British army. Raja believes in Christianity and is involved with religious meetings where he delivers speeches. He lost both his parents at a young age. His mother died of cancer when Raja was only 5 years old. His father died of a cardiac arrest in December 1989. He and his sister worked at a young age to support education. He worked for Sterling Holiday resorts during his college days. Later he worked with worked with NEPC airlines for many years. But he wanted to do something big. That’s how he reached movies.

Raja is known for his chocolate looks in Telugu cinema. He made his debut with a hit film ‘O Chinnadana’. He played the title role in Anand – which changed his career. The film was directed, produced and written by Sekhar Kammula, and he was paired with Kamalinee Mukherjee. Nee Sukhame Ne Korukunna, Sontha Ooru, Mr. Nookayya, Mayabazar, Nuvva Nena, Style etc are some of his roles later. He was interested in table tennis, skating, swimming and basketball during his college days.
