Raj Arjun Biography

Raj Arjun is an Indian actor associated with Bollywood, known for playing supporting and negative roles. Raj shot to fame playing the negative character and arrogant father of Zaira Wasim in the most recent super hit film, Secret Superstar. He plays the role of Farookh Malik, an abusive husband who stands against his daughter Insia’s dreams to become a singer. Raj Arjun has earlier appeared in Bollywood films - Rowdy Rathore, Raees and Shabri, and Tamil film, Thandavan. Yet he earned recognition and fame through the recent release - Secret Superstar. The very talented and child artist of Indian entertainment industry, Sara Arjun is Raj’s daughter.

Raj Arjun had faced a lot of struggles during his early days in Bollywood. He hails from Bhopal, where he started off with theater. He tried to get admission at National School of Drama, but got rejected four times. He went back to Habib Tanvir and worked for him for three years. The rejection and failure began to hurt him and Habib advised him to move to Mumbai. He started with TV, but didn’t really enjoy that. He got his first break through Shabri, but it took 5-6 six years before it released in 2011. He was getting small roles, but there was no fun in it. His frustration reached an extreme level. He was already married before he reached Mumbai.

The actor always dreamt to do something that hits from inside, and according to him, Secret Superstar and Shabri gave him that satisfaction. He was without any work, with no money in hand and almost like a beggar till Secret Superstar happened – certifies the actor. His role as a conservative, abusive husband in Secret Superstar earned him a lot of appreciation, and he is looking forward to do some quality work. His daughter Sara Arjun is already a star in south Indian cinema, and she has appeared in a few Bollywood movies as well.

Raj Arjun did audition for this role. In fact the casting director had invited his daughter for an audition for a different film. They were also auditioning for Secret Superstar and Raj was asked to audition, too. He auditioned in front of another casting director, and the role was destined to be played by Raj. The film was produced by Aamir Khan Productions, and Aamir Khan played a very important cameo role in the film.
