Raghubir Yadav is a noted stage actor and film actor mostly seen in supporting roles. He appears in television as well. He is also known as a singer and music director. He has been a part of many national and international award winning movies and most of them belong to parallel cinema. For the 1986 movie, Massey Sahib, he received FIPRESCI Critic's Award, Venice and IFFI, Silver Peacock Award at the International Film Festival of India for best actor. His noted Hindi movies include – Lagaan, Peepli live, Dilli 6, Bawander, Bandit queen, Firaaq and Salaam Bombay, where he appeared in supporting roles. He has also appeared in Darna mana hai, Aaja nachle, Meenaxi: A tale of 3 cities, Dil se, Saas, 1942: A Love Story, Kuch Tum Kaho Kuch Hum Kahein, Maya Memsaab, Rudali, Dharavi, papeeha, Suraj ka sathvan ghoda, Khamoshi, Dushmani, Water, Asoka and Antony kaun hai.

Yadhav was born on 25 June 1957 in Jabalpur, MP. He is an alumnus of the 1977 batch, NSD, Delhi. As a stage actor and singer, he has performed more than 70 plays which conducted more than 2500 shows. He was a part of Parsi Theatre Company during the period 1967–1973 and Rangoli Puppet Theatre, Lucknow for a couple of years, 1973 and 1974. Later he worked in NSD during the period 1977–1986 for over 40 plays. In 1985, he debut silver screen as hero for the movie, Massey Sahib which earned him two international best actor awards. He is the only Indian actor to receive Silver Peacock Award at the International Film Festival of India. He has acted in 3 academy nominated Indian movies - Salaam Bombay!, Lagaan and Water.

He debut television in the year 1990 with Mungerilal Ke Haseen Sapne, where he played the role of Mungerilal. He played lead role in Chacha Chaudhary and Arjun Pandit and has also acted in the role of Haji Nasruddin the series Mulla Nasiruddin.
