Radhika Apte Biography

Radhika Apte is a noted theatre and film actress from Pune, Maharashtra. She has acted in Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu and Tamil films and has also been associated with Mohit Takalkar’s theatre troupe Aasakta as a stage actress. Shobha Yatra, Uney Purey Shahar Ek, Kashmir Kashmir, Pan Amhala Khelayachay, Poornaviram, Garbo, Noko Re Baba, Matra Ratra, Brain Surgeon and Bombay Black are her noted theatre works. As a film actress 2012 bilingual Dhoni is her most noticed work, for which she received a nomination at SIIMA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. She has acted in Anurag Kashyap’s short film on eve-teasing, 'That Day After Every day'. ‘Shor In The City' is her noted Bollywood work, where she played the role of Tusshar Kapoor's wife.

 

Radhika was born in Pune in 1985 to Dr. Charu Apte, leading neurosurgeon. She graduated in Economics from Fergusson College, Pune. After studies, she got associated with Mohit Takalkar’s theatre troupe Aasakta. Tu, Purnaviram, Matra Ratra, Kanyadaan etc are her noted Marathi plays. She made her film debut through 2005 Bollywood movie, Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi! where she played the supporting role of Anjali.  She also appeared in a short film, Darmiyaan in 2006.

 

She made her lead heroine debut through Bengali film, Antaheen directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury. She was casted in the female lead and she worked with experienced actors like Sharmiula Tagore and Rahul Bose in this movie. Rupkatha Noy is her latest Bengali release and Pendulum is her upcoming project. Her noted Bollywood films include The Waiting Room, Rakht Charitra I and 2 and Shor in the city.
