Radha Ravi Biography

Radha Ravi is an Indian actor who works in Tamil movies and television. He is the son of yesteryear actor, M. R. Radha and halfbrother of Raadhika Sarathkumar. He plays supporting and character roles in movies and is known for his controversial criticism of other film personalities. He is also verse in negative roles. Among his television roles, most noted work is Chellame at present. He entered film filed during middle 1970’s and has played 100’s of roles on screen. He has also dubbed for a few artists for movies. His noted television serials also include - Tharkkappu Kalai Theeratha and Thiruvilayadal. He has acted in about 280 films in all the South Indian languages.

Radha Ravi was born on 29 July 1953 to actor M.R. Radha and Dhanalakshmiammal. M.R.R.Vasu, three Rashya, Rani and Rathikala are his siblings. He started his acting career as a theater artist before concentrating on to films. He took many lessons from his father too. He has done school dramas and he continued it while at college too. Later he took it seriously and has worked with V.K. Ramasamy troupe, MRR. Vasu troupe, T.K. Chandran troupe and the UAA troupe. In 1980, he started his own troupe Nadikavel Theatres.

Radha entered film field through Kannada movies. His debut movie was Ragasiya Rathiri released in 1975. His second movie was Tamil - Manmathalelai, after Kamal Haasan recommended his name to K. Balachandar. Negative role in Uyurullavarai Usha proved to be a turning point of his career. Later he became a part of Tamil film industry and a few of his noted works include - Vaidegi Kaathirunthal, Uyarntha Ullam, Chinna Thambi, Poo Veli, Uzhaipalli and Guru Sishyan. He has been associated with many controversial statements about celebrities of the industry including Asin and Rahman.
