Radha Bharathi Biography

Radha Bharathi is a Tamil film director, known for his association with actor Prashanth. He mostly works on low-budget movies. Made his film debut in 1990 with the movie - Vaigasi Poranthachu, which launched actor Prashanth in Kollywood and since then, he concentrated on low-cost rural theme oriented movies. His last release was Nanbargal Narpani Mandram (2015), a comedy entertainer featuring newcomers. Radha made two successful movies with actor Prashanth – his debut film Vaigasi Poranthachu in 1990 and Kizhakke Varum Paattu (1993). In 2000 he made one Kannada film – Yejamana.

 

Radha Bharathi started his career in the year 1990 with the movie, - Vaigasi Poranthachu, starring newcomer Prashanth and Kaveri playing the main lead. The movie also starred Sulakshana, Sangeetha and K. R. Vijaya in the pivot roles and the music was composed by Deva. A rural village love story, Prashanth played the role of a naughty student in the movie. Similar to many love stories, with ingredients of good songs and action, the movie was a box office hit. Since then he made a few more village centric films like - Vaidehi Vanthachu, Akkarai Cheemayile, Kizhakke Varum Paattu etc.

 

He made his second hit with Prashanth - Kizhakke Varum Paattu. After that he took sabbatical from Tamil film industry. Then he concentrated on to his career as a screenwriter and story writing. In 2000, he co-directed one Kannada film – Yejamana, alongside R. Sheshadri, which was a runaway hit at box office. The movie starred Vishnuvardhan, Prema, Shashikumar and Abhijeeth in lead roles. In 2005 he returned to Tamil cinema with Kaatrullavarai (2005), and disappeared once again. In 2015, he released his new film - Nanbargal Narpani Mandram, starring newcomer Senguttuvan and Akshaya.
