Raam Laxman Biography

Raam Laxman is a successful music director of Hindi cinema, known for his association with Rajshree films. His music for all time blockbusters of Rajashri productions like – Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Meine Pyar Kiya and Hum Saath Saath Hain, all belonging to actor Salman Khan are regarded as evergreen hits of Bollywood. He received Filmfare best music director award for the year 1989 movie, Meine pyar kiya. Actually, this name belongs to duo-composers, Ram Kadam, famous Marathi music director and Vijay Patil. Soon after their first assignment, Agent Vinod (1977) was signed with the name, Ram-Laxman. Ram Kadam passed away. However, Vijay Patil continued with the same name which they have coined earlier, except the change of spelling of Ram to Raam.

 

As a music director, Raam Laxman’s debut movie was super hit Agent Vinod, released in 1977. Raamlaxman (born Vijay Patil) is a pianist and accordionist. He was a part of an orchestra called the Amar - Vijay Orchestra. Vijay Patil paired with Raam (Ram Kadam) and signed their first movie. However, Ram died soon, yet Vijay Patil retained the same name. After the success of Agent Vinod, he signed numerous projects with the same name, Raam Laxman. In Marathi films Raamlaxman mostly worked with Marathi comedian actor Dada Kondke.

 

His top musical hits are Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, 100 days, Agent Vinod, Ustadi Ustad Se, Muskurahat, Meine Pyar Kiya, Humse badhkar kaun, Patthar ke phool, Saatwan Aasman, Tarana and Hum Saath Saath Hain. His songs have played a significant role in the success of all time blockbusters – Hum aapke hain kaun. Indeed, songs were given much preference in the movie. Hum aapke hain kaun contained 17 tracks and all were huge hits too, particularly Deedi tera dewar, Pehla pehla pyar, Chocolate Lime juice and Mayini. Kabootar jaa, Mere rang mein, Aaja shyam hone aayi and Dil deewana bin sajna ke of Meine pyar kiye were trendsetters of late 1980’s.  Raamlaxman has done almost 75 films in Hindi, Marathi and Bhojpuri.
