Priyanka Upendra Biography

Priyanka Upendra is a film actress who predominantly worked in south Indian films. She has also done a few Bollywood and Bengali films. She is married to super star of Kannada film industry – Upendra and currently she appears in Kannada films. In 2016, she played lead role in the Kannada film – Priyanka. Tejas played male lead. She is of Bengali origin and her maiden name is Priyanka Trivedi. She gained success through the Bengali film, Saathi, a trendsetter. Among her south Indian films, she received recognition for Tamil film Raja opposite Ajith Kumar. Priyanka has been a former model before her entry to films and has won the beauty pageant, Miss Kolkata title in 1996.

 

She was born as Priyanka Trivedi on 9 November 1977 in Kolkata, West Bengal. She started her professional career as a model and has done modelling assignments in the mid-1990s, before her foray to films. She won Miss Kolkata title in 1996, which gave her big break to modelling industry as well as films. She was introduced in the Bengali film "Yoddha", followed by Hothat Brishti (1998) directed by Basu Chatterjee. The movie was a Bengali remake of Tamil super hit - Kadhal Kottai, and she played the female lead. Same year she was seen in an uncredited role in Bollywood film – Bada Din.

 

In 1999, she made her Bollywood debut through Soutela, which also launched the Bollywood careers of Vinay Anand – Govinda’s nephew, Priya Raman and Rajashree. Mujhe Meri Biwi Se Bachaao, Guru Mahaguru, Dhurga, Enemmy etc are her Bollywood roles later. Priyanka received success through south Indian films and she received praises for her roles in Tamil films – H2O, Malla, Raja etc.
