Preeti Desai Biography

Preeti Desai is a British Indian model who works in Bollywood. She was crowned Miss Great Britain in 2007 and before that she won Miss Cleveland too. Thus Preeti made history by becoming the first woman of Indian origin to ever win the title. She was voted the winner after the previous winner was disqualified. In 2011 she made her Bollywood debut through critically acclaimed and commercially successful movie, Shor in the city. She played female lead aside Sendhil Ramamurthy and Tusshar Kapoor. The movie also earned her a nomination at South Asian Rising Star Film Awards in New York. In 2011, her name was listed among India's 50 Most Desirable Women by Times Magazine. Since 2010 she is in a committed relationship with talented young actor, Abhay Deol.

She was born in Middleborough, England in 1984 to Jitendra Desai and Hemlata Desai. She has one sister, Anjlee Desai who is a singer. After winning the title of Miss Great Britain in 2007, she moved to London from the North East of England as ambassador of Great Britain. She was associated with many social activities during this period. In 2008 she moved to India and was represented by famous celebrity photographer Atul Kasbekar. Within two years, she achieved the status of ‘Super Model’. She endorsed many products and appeared as cover girl of all leading fashion magazines.

After a successful career of modelling in India for 2 years, she moved to Bollywood. She played the lead role of Shalmili in 2011 Bollywood release, Shor in the city. Her second release was ‘One by Two’ in 2014 which was heavily panned by critics. She played lead role opposite Abhay Deol. She plays a cameo appearance in upcoming release, Rock the Shaadi, lead roles played by Abhay Deol and Genelia.
