Prathapachandran Biography

Prathapachandran was a popular actor of Malayalam in the 1980s, known for portraying powerful antogonist’s role. He is regarded as one of the most sought villains of Malayalam cinema, who gave new dimensions to negative shaded characters on screen. This prolific actor has acted in more than 300 movies, of which he mostly appeared as ‘Bad man’ onscreen. He was regularly featured in Mammootty starrer action movies in the 1980s. He remained in the limelight as a powerful villain till mid 1990s.

Whether it’s a politician or a mafia king, Prathapachandran has given 100% perfection to almost all character roles he portrayed. 

He was born in 1941 in Omallur of Pathanamthitta District. He discontinued his studies while studying in standard nine and left his studies to become an actor. He was associated with cultural activities since early days and has won several prizes for his skills. He moved to Kollam and then Chennai at the age of 14, while studying in school, in search of film opportunities. He lived in Chennai for long three years in search of roles and took part in many radio plays.
