Prashant Damle Biography
Prashant Damle is an actor of Marathi cinema. He works in television serials and plays as well. He is popular with his comic roles. His career spans to about 3 decades and has received best stage actor several times. His drama Gela Madhav Kunikade set a new world record completing 10,700 shows in the past 15 years and still running in packed houses. His drama is being shown in Ravindra Natya Mandir, Mumbai.
As a stage actor, he has won state awards for his performances in Lekure Udand Jhali, Bahurupi, Olakh Na Palakh, Amhi Doghe Raja Rani, Eka Lagnachi Gosht, Lekure Udand Jhali, Gela Madhav Kunikade and Priyatama it includes critics’ awards as well. In 1993, he got Maharashtra State Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his role in the Marathi movie, Sawat Majhi Ladki. He also owns a few Limca Records, related to his stage shows.
His film career includes more than 100 Marathi films and a few of them include - Ek Gaganbhedi Kinkkali, Tu tith me, Akka, Char Divas Sasuche, Eena Meena Deeka, Aikava Te Nawalach, Aapli Manas, Yadnya, Saglikade Bomba Bomb, Baap Re Baap , Vajwa Re Vajwa and Sagle Sarkech. His noted television works are Kay Paahilas Mazyat, Ek Rupauachi Paij, Bhikaji Rao karodpati, Hat Leka, Amchyasarkhe amhich and Uchapati. He has also participated in reality shows like Rambandhu Sahyadri Antakshari, Amhi Saare Khavayye and Saregamapa Season 11.
He has received Maharashtra state award for best stage actor 6 times. He won it for the first time in the year 1993 for the play, Gela Madhav Kunikade, followed by Lekure Udand Jhali (1995), Eka Lagnachi Gosht (1999), Amhi Doghe Raja Rani (2003), Olakh Na Palakh (2008) and Bahurupi (2010). He won Critics Award in the year 1995 for the play - Lekure Udand Jhali.
