Prakash Nikki Biography

Prakash Nikki is a music director associated with south Indian film industry. He composes songs for Tamil films. He made his debut as a music composer through 2011 Tamil film, Rowthiram, which was later dubbed to Telugu language with the same title. The melody track ‘Maalai Mangum Neram’ from Jiiva - Shreya starrer Rowthiram was among the most popular tracks of 2011. After a long break of almost 5 years, he composed songs for the Tamil film, Kalam in 2016. The movie is a horror thriller. Both these films were appreciated by music critics for its good songs. He composed official anthem of 11th Chennai International Film Festival.

Prakash got attached to the music world quite at a young age. He started learning music at the age of six with Carnatic music. Later he also learnt western music and piano. He made his film debut through 2011 Tamil film, Rowthiram. The album was one of the best works of the year 2011. Rowthiram was dubbed to Telugu version also. The composer aims at quality rather than quantity, and his second film as a composer was released only in 2016 – Kalam. He couldn’t find a better script after the Telugu version of Rowthiram for the next four years. Though he received offers from small-budget films, he was not interested in taking them, as he got the first break through a big banner movie.

His effort was decent enough and raga based, and a new experiment in Tamil cinema. The popular song – “Anuvai Philanthaai” sung by Shweta Mohan and Abhay Jodhpurkar is based on raaga Hamsanadam. Its lovely lyrics were written by Kabilan Vairamuthu. The film also included the songs - "Puthu Puthu" and "Maayam Kaana Vaaraiyo". He also did the background score for the film.
