Prajakta Shukre Biography 
Prajakta Shukre is a playback singer, who shot to fame after participating in India’s first singing talent hunt reality show – Indian Idol Season 1 in 2004. The show was aired on Sony Television network and she was the single female contestant to finish among top 5. She was a hot favourite with the audiences and one among the judges Anu Malik was a top fan of her. The show was finally won by Abhijeet Sawant, with whom she has performed several successful stage shows later. Prajakta has also done playback singing for a few Bollywood films such as Shaadi No.1, Tees Maar Khan, Jaan-E-Mann (2006) etc.
Prajakta Shukre was born on 29 November 1987 into a middle class family of Madhya Pradesh. Her mother Renu is a music teacher who initiated Prajakta to the world of music at a very young age. Her father works with State Bank of India, Bhopal and she has one brother. She was only four when she started participating in music shows in her hometown, Jabalpur. She was studying class XII in Jabalpur when she decided to take part in Indian Idol. She became very famous through the show, though she couldn’t win it. She later received many assignments including Bollywood projects from popular directors like David Dhawan. She also received Lata Mangeshkar award in Madhya Pradesh in 2004 for the most promising singer. She later released her first solo album with composer Leslie Lewis, under Sony BMG label.
Her mother stands as her pillar of support and currently stays at Mumbai along with her daughter, taking care of her music assignments. She also accompanies her for her music shows and recordings. Renu came to Mumbai and stayed with her daughter in the same room when Prajakta contested in Indian Idol contest. Prajakta also received good support from her father. She along with Indian Idol winner Abhijeet Sawant has performed in many stage shows together. In 2010, she allegedly banged her car injuring two kids at Santa Cruz. She was returning after a meeting aside a group of friends including Abhijeet Sawant, Ujjaini and Antara.
