Prabhas Biography

Prabhas is the latest star of Telugu cinema, who rose to stardom playing the antagonist’s role in the Magnum opus of S. S. Rajamouli, Baahubali: The Beginning, where he appeared in a double role. He is to play the lead role of Bahubali in its concluding part as well, one of the highly awaited releases of Indian cinema in 2016. Though earlier known as a chocolate young hero through the numerous roles he played as a young actor, Baahubali is one such movie which gave new acting dimensions to this young actor. The movie went on to become the highest grosser south Indian film and the third highest grosser among all Indian films, near to Bollywood release PK. The movie which accumulated 600 crore at box office, became the first south Indian movie to reach 100 crore club in the dubbed Hindi release, thus making one of the significant films made in the recent times. 

Prabhas was born to late director U. Suryanarayana Raju and Siva Kumari on 23 October 1979 in Mogalturu, a village near Bhimavaram. He has two siblings. Prabhas is the nephew of Telugu actor Uppalapati Krishnam Raju. His education was completed in Bhimavaram. He completed an engineering degree and wanted to do business. Prabhas made his film debut in 2002 with the Telugu film – Eshwar. He played the male antagonist opposite Sridevi Vijayakumar, and the movie was recorded average at Box office.

It was followed by a series of flicks which made him popular among youngsters. His dazzling looks also gave him good fan followers. Following Raghavendra in 2103, Varsham was released in 2004, which was a huge hit at box office establishing Prabhas as an actor. He was paired with Trisha for the movie. After Adavi Raamudu and Chakram, he worked with S. S. Rajamouli for the first time in Chatrapathi, which was a huge success and cemented his position in Tollywood. Pournami, Yogi, Munna, Darling, Mr.Perfect, Rebel and Mirchi are his other releases.

Prabhas is engaged to a 22-year old Engineering student, selected by his parents and he is to marry this December. The actor was signed for a whopping Rs 24 crore for the big budget – Baahubali, of which he spent 1.5 crore for toning his body in a gym. While working in Bahubali the actor didn’t sign any project for 3 years. In his 14-year career, Prabhas has done just 19 films. He is choosy on his scripts and usually accepts one movie a year. He is a great fan of Rajkumar Hirani, Shah Rukh and Salman Khan. He has done a cameo role in Bollywood flick – Action Jackson.
