Pop Shalini Biography 
Shalini Singh is a noted singer from Tamil Nadu, popularly known as Pop Shalini. She gained attention at the age of 5 and started doing jingles since then. Apart from Jingles, stage shows, film and pop songs, she is also a writer who writes for children. ‘Pop’ Shalini is one of the youngest stars of Tamil Pop who has sung more than 600 songs, apart from jingles with the same number. She is a reality show judge and has done concerts across the globe. She released her first album at the age of 13. Kakka kakka’s Yennai Konjam and Mudhal Naal composed by Harris Jayaraj still remains her chartbuster film songs. She was chosen one of 'The Faces of the Millennium', through a survey conducted by India Today. She has also sung several Hindi remix albums.
She started singing at the age of 3. She performed for Doordarshan while a first standard student at Holy Angels Convent. It was a 10-minute performance for ‘Little Stars’ segment of Wonder Balloon during late 1980’s. After watching this show, the famous theatre group Youngstars under Brian & Christerine Laul in Chennai invited her to join their group. She also received a call from Thayanban who gave her the first jingle to sing at the age of 5. As a kid she did stage performances and regularly participated in music competitions at school.
Though she first performed for western classical, later she learnt Carnatic music for a couple of years, followed by Hindustani music for 8 years. She also completed eighth grade exam in piano recently. Her first recorded song was ‘Deewana Deewana’ from K. Balachander’s Thulli Thiranda Kaalam when she was only 14. ‘Ailasa Ailasa’ for Karthik Raja’s ‘Naam Iruvar, Namakku Iruvar’ with Udit Narayan was the first released song.
