Pooja Devariya Biography

Pooja Devariya is a theatre and film actress who works in Tamil movies. She made her film debut through Selvaraghavan's Mayakkam Enna (2012) in a character role and switched on to her stage plays once again. At present, she has returned to movies and has signed a few assignments in 2015. She is associated with the theatre group Stray Factory. Maiem is her single release in 2015, and a handful of movies are waiting to release. She plays female lead role in upcoming flick - Kutramum Thandanaiyum directed by Manikandan and she is being casted opposite Vidharth. She is to play supporting roles in Iraivi, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Vallavanukku Vallavan and the delayed project Andhra Mess. Apart from a slew of upcoming releases, a few projects are still in pipeline.

Pooja, a Mumbai based girl had an artistic streak. She is a dancer, painter and model, apart from an actor. She joined the theatre group Stray Factory in the year 2010, where she worked on stage plays and online video. She was spotted by Gitanjali Selvaraghavan in one of such show ‘Dirty Dancing‘, who recommended her name to her director husband. Thus she got her first offer in Mayakkam Enna, where she played the role of Dhanush’s gang mate.

But Pooja had a great struggle ahead. Though she struggled to get roles, she always landed with character roles. Some directors asked her money in exchange of heroine’s role and very often she lost many roles after shooting teasers. Some brands her as a ‘Bombay model’. She even went to depression since she failed to get a good chance in Collywood. She took a break and returned to Mumbai and it was during this time when she got calls from South. Now she is happy about her upcoming projects.
