Pooja Chopra Biography

Pooja Chopra is a successful Indian model and film actress. She was crowned as the Femina Miss India in 2009 and represented India at Miss World contest at Johannesburg, South Africa, where she became a semifinalist. She also won the Beauty With A Purpose award at Miss World 2009. She had small roles in Madhur Bhandarkar's films Fashion and Heroine as model. As a heroine she debut with Tamil movie, Ponnar Shankar in 2011 where she was paired opposite Prashanth. The movie was adapted from M. Karunanidhi's novel of the same name. Pooja played the role of Muthaayi, Shankar's love interest in this movie. She debut Bollywood with Commando in the year 2013 which was a moderate hit. It received critics’ appreciation.

Pooja Chopra was born in 1985 in Kolkata. She had a miserable childhood. Her father and family left her mother and two daughters since they couldn’t get a male heir. Her mother had a hardship youth when she learnt a living to bring up her two daughters - Pooja and Shubra. They have never met him or family after Pooja’s birth at a hospital.

Pooja Chopra was crowned with Femina Miss India East title on February 17, 2009, in Kolkata. She also won Miss Perfect 10, Miss Catwalk, Miss Beautiful Smile, Talwarkars Best Body and Nakshatra Miss Sparkling Beauty in the contest which gave her direct entry to Miss India contest. On April 5, 2009 Pooja Chopra was crowned the Pantaloons Femina Miss India-World 2009. Chopra sprained her ankle one week prior to the Miss World final on December 12, 2009 and she was advised by doctors to take rest. But she participated in the contest and reached till semifinal. She won the "Beauty With a Purpose" title at Miss World 2009 based on her charitable work in the India "Nanhi Kali" project. She positioned at number 28 in ‘Times 50 most beautiful Indian women’.
