Peter Hein Biography

Peter Hein is the leading stunt master and action choreographer associated with south Indian movies. He has also worked in a few Bollywood movies. He has given some outstanding contributions to many blockbusters of south Indian movies – the most recent one being the Magnum Opus ‘Bahubali’ (2015). He has worked with almost all directors of south India, known for making expensive movies – Shankar, A. R. Murugadoss, S. S. Rajamouli etc. Sivaji, Anniyan, Ghajini, Magadheera, Ready, Enthiran, Raavanan, 7aum Arivu, Kochadaiyaan and Baahubali are some of the expensive projects for which Peter has done action sequences and all are big hits at box office as well.

He was born in Chennai. His parents were Vietnamese immigrants. His career in movies began as extra fighter and assistant fight master for some Tamil and Malayalam movies and later worked as assistant to action directors Kanal Kannan and Vijayan. His first break was given by Telugu director - Krishna Vamsi for the movie Murari (2001). Since then he works in movies as action director, co-ordinator and stunt director. Very soon in the early 2000s, he tasted success and critics’ appreciation for hit movies like Anji, Run, Varsham, Anniyan, Athadu, Chatrapati, Kaakha Kaakha etc. Anniyan earned him Filmfare Best Action Director Award (South).

He received first Bollywood film from Ram Gopal Varma. The movie was James – a box office failure. Later he has worked as a stunt master for Bollywood movies like Family: Ties of Blood, Tashan, Gajani, Agent Vinod, Race 2 etc. He worked in both the versions of Gajani (Tamil and Hindi) and received Filmfare Best Action Award for its Hindi version. Noted action masters Anal Arasu and Stunt Silva have worked as his assistants.
