Pepsi Uma Biography

Uma Maheswari is a TV host associated with Sun TV. She is best known for hosting the show, Pepsi Ungal choice in this TV channel, and after gaining immense popularity through this show, she came to be known as "Pepsi Uma” among her fans. She successfully hosted the show for 18 plus long years and the show set a record for being on air for the longest period of time, with the same anchor. Uma is the only South Indian TV anchor to appear in Karan Thapar's BBC series Face to Face in 2001.

Uma was the producer of Star Show on Sun TV, and she produced the show aside Gangai Amaran, a music composer from Tamil cinema. They discussed news related to movies every week through this cine program on television, and it was telecasted for 11 long years. She has also worked with Kalaignar TV. Uma is known for rejecting many films including one in Shah Rukh films, and also some ad offers, which could have easily put her to a new world of stardom. Subhash Ghai wanted to cast her opposite Shah Rukh Khan in one films. She is famously known for rejecting one Pepsi ad with Sachin Tendulkar due to the costume given to her. Her fans wanted to build a temple for her at Kumili.

The word ‘Pepsi’ first irreplaceably stuck Uma some two decades ago and it catapulted her to dizzying heights of popularity when she began to anchor Ungal Choice, a phone-in show on Sun TV. The show had a long run of 18 years. In 2013, she was seen in Jaya TV’s one-hour weekly show, Album – a chat show through which she communicated with veterans of different fields, not just entertainment sector. Currently she is into corporate sector, working as a business administrator of a firm. She along her spouse are into construction sector.
