Payel Sarkar Biography

Payel Sarkar is a successful film actress of Bengali cinema. She also appears in Hindi television in popular roles. She started her film journey in 2004 and has completed one decade in the entertainment industry. Her small screen debut happened in the year 2007 with popular Hindi serial, Love story in which she appeared for about one year. She received Anondolok award 2010. She was the cover page model in a famous Bengali magazine Unish-Kuri during her early days.

She was born on 10 February 1984 in Kolkata to Ashok Kumar Sarkarand Konica Sarkar. She is also known by the nick name – Piu. She completed her degree in history from Jadavpur University in Kolkata. Reading books, Shopping and watching television are her favourite hobbies. She started doing telefilms while doing her graduation. She appeared in a few telefilms of Sudeshna Roy. She made her film debut in the year 2004 with Shudhu Tumi followed by Bibar. Later she appeared in Bengali movies like I Love You (2007), F. M. (2007), Cross Connection (2009), Prem Aamar (2009), Le Chakka (2011), Jaani Dyakha Hawbe (2011), Bojhena Shey Bojhena (2012), Le Halua Le (2012), Bawali Unlimited (2012), Gole male gole male piritkorona ( 2013) and Ekti Asharay Golpo (2013).

She played lead role opposite Dev in Bengali film 'I Love You' directed by Ravi Kinagi which earned her instant success. Her work impressed Anurag Basu who offered her a television role in his upcoming television series. Thus she made her television debut in 2007. She appeared in popular television serials, Love story, Waqt Batayega Kaun Apna Kaun Paraya, Shakuntala and Ladies special. Shahrukh Khan is her favourite Indian actor and Kajol and Sonam Kapoor among female protagonists.
