Patralekha Biography

Patralekha is an upcoming actress of Bollywood. She is a successful model too who was earlier known by the name - Anwita Paul. This 24 year old Shillong girl made her Bollywood debut with ‘City Lights’. She plays lead heroine role opposite her real life hero,talented Rajkummar Rao who won National award for best actor in 2014.They play married couple onscreen. The movie is directed by extremely talented Hansal Mehta of Shahid fame. This talented actress is already aiming Hollywood and wants to work like Hollywood actresses Meryl Streep, Kate Winslet and Julia Roberts.

She belongs to Shillong. Patralekha is her real name, given by her grandmother who was a poetess. But others found it difficult to pronounce this name and her friends started calling her Anwita, which became her pet name. However, film makers Mukesh and Mahesh Bhatt asked her to retain her original name.Actress Vidya Balan is her inspiration. Most recently actor Rajkummar Rao is in a committed relationship with Patralekha. Yet marriage is not on the cards at this moment, as both are concentrated on their careers right now.

Patralekha did her college studies at Mumbai. During her college studies, one of her friends was working with B. R. Chopra’s production house. She got an ad film through that friend. Though the ad film never got released she later received many offers as a model. Thus she reached ad world and TV commercials. During her college days in 2008, she earned more than 50,000 rupees a month as a successful model. It was her dream to become an actress and she joined Barry John’s acting school for a three-month acting course.
