Pasupathy Biography
Pasupathy is a versatile actor of Tamil cinema known for his critically well acclaimed roles. He appears as hero, anti-hero as well as comic and supporting roles. His performance in ‘E‘ (2006) earned him supporting actor award both at Filmfare and Tamil state awards. He also won an ITFA Best Supporting Actor Award for his role in Kuselan (2008). He appears in all south Indian languages. His noted roles as antagonistic include - Dhool, Virumaandi and Thirupaachi. Most recently he appeared in all time blockbuster Hindi movie, Chennai Express doing a comic role, alongside a long list of Tamil actors. His comic flavours were well noted in the Tamil movie, Majaa also.
Pasupathy Ramasamy was born in 1969 near Maduravoyal, Chennai. He was a professional theatre artist before coming to movies. He studied the art and worked under famous acting school "Koothu-P-Pattarai" till 1997 when he moved to movies. He became friends with actor Nassar who was in the film institute and a film offer was given to him by Nassar. Nassar introduced him to Kamal Haasan, who offered him a villain role in upcoming film. However Nasser's `Mayan' was the first of his films to get released. Later too, Nasser helped Pasupathy a lot in establishing his career. But he has appeared in a few Tamil movies in bit roles. Kuruthipunal (1995) and Housefull (1999) are a couple of such movies.
He got his first major recognized role in Kamal Hassan’s Virumaandi as Kothaala Thevar followed by Mani Ratnam’s Kannathil Muthamittal where he played an LTTE freedom fighter. His first lead role was in the National Film Award winning film Veyyil. He has appeared in Malayalam movies, Big B, Vairam: Fight For Justice, Outsider and No. 66 Madhura Bus.
