Omkar Das Manikpuri Biography 
Omkar Das Manikpuri is a Bollywood actor, who shot to instant fame after playing leading role in Aamir Khan Productions' Peepli Live (2010). This movie marked his Bollywood debut as well and was praised for his acting talents. He has been a member of Habib Tanvir's, the Naya Theatre Company for several years and known as a very talented stage actor. He belongs to Brindanagar in Bhilai, of Chhattisgarh state. His next release is Ebn-E-Batuta, which is scheduled to release in April 2014. Two Chhattisgarhi films and a Chhattisgarhi folk music album are also set to release.
He was born in 1971 in Bhilai in Durg district Chhattisgarh. He studied till fifth grade in school. Following his father’s death, he discontinued studies and joined a village folk-theatre troupe, Mandali. He shifted to Brindanagar in Bhilai in 1981. He became a part of local form of folk theatre called Nacha at the age of 17. He also joined an itinerant village theatre group, where he worked as an actor, singer, dancer, mimic and a stand-up comedian also. Then he joined Naya Theatre as an actor, founded by Habib Tanvir in Bhopal.
In association with Naya Theatre, his memorable plays include - Agra Bazaar, Charandas Chor, and Kamdev ka Apna Basant Ritu ka Sapna and Sadak which have been staged in many Indian countries as well as abroad. In one such occasion he was spotted by film director Rizvi and the co-director, Mahmood Farooqui of the film ‘Peepli live’ and was given the lead role. Initially he had auditioned for a minor role of Machua, but later he was given the lead of Natha, which was actually meant to play by Aamir Khan himself.
