Nivedita Basu Biography

Nivedita Basu is a television producer who formerly worked as Creative Director at Balaji Telefilms. She has been with the production house for nine long years since the days of Hum Paanch to popular TV soaps, Kyunki... Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi... and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii. Though there were rumours of the creative indifference between Ekta Kapoor and Nivedita following the failures of TV series, Kkavyanjali and Kahaani Hamaarey Mahabharat Ki, both have denied the rumours. Nivedita stated that once she returned after a tour from abroad, she decided to move on, as she has been associated with the production house for a long time.

Nivedita Basu was born and brought up in Mumbai. She joined Balaji Telefilms in the year 2000 when Indian television industry was going through a major metamorphic process with the evolution of ‘soap era’. She joined Balaji telefilms as a deputy creative director, and has been associated with Ekta Kapoor's family dramas - Kyunki... Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi..., Kkusum, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii etc which established Ekta as the ruling emperor of television industry. When the production house was restructured in 2009, Nivedita left the house. She soon joined Colosceum Media as Vice president scripted programming.

Her major works in the second phase of her career include her stint as a creative Director of Anil Kapoor's popular TV series, 24. Currently she is the Creative Director of The Bachelorette India - Mere Khayalon Ki Mallika, and has also set up her own television production house - 'The House of Originals'. Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai starring Amrita Rao in the lead role is produced by 'The House of Originals'. She also owns a celebrity cricket team - Kolkata Babu Mohai in television reality show Box Cricket League at present.
