Nithya Das Biography

Nithya Das is a Malayalam film actress best known for the lead role she played in 2001 movie – Ee Parakkum Thalika. The role opposite Dileep gave her Asianet Film awards for best new face of the year. She also made a special appearance in the song – Kunjannte penninu of Dileep’s Kunjikoonan the following year. Nariman, Kanmashi, Choonda, Balettan, Nagaram, Soorya Kireedam, Varum Varunnu and Vannu and Freedom are some of her memorable performances. She played Mohanlal’s younger sister in Malayalam blockbuster hit – Baalettan. She also played supporting roles in Hridayathil Sookshikkaan, Kathavasheshan, Soorya kireedam etc. Apart from films she also played signature roles in popular Malayalam television serials like Indraneelam, Ayyappanum Vavarum etc.

 

Though she has been one of the popular faces on Malayalam screen in the mid 2000s she couldn’t sustain in the film industry and later moved to character roles and television serials. She has also appeared in a few television ads and has appeared in one Tamil movie, a 2006 Tamil drama film directed by Arputhan co-starring Jayasurya, Samiksha and Shaam. The movie was Manathodu Mazhaikalam. She played the title role opposite Shyam in this movie. She got married to her sweet heart Arvind Singh at Guruvayur temple in the year 2007 and said good bye to silver screen. They met for the first time in 2005 while travelling by a flight.

 

Her debut movie Ee parakkum thalika was directed by Thaha and the movie has received a cult classic status among the comedy movies of Malayalam. The movie is also noted for the outstanding performances of Harishree Ashokan and Cochin Haneefa in pivot roles. She played lead role opposite Vineeth Kumar in Kanmashi.
