Nirosha Biography

Nirosha, also called Niroja is a former actress of south Indian cinema, who was active in the era of 1980s. Though she was mostly associated with Tamil cinema, she has also appeared in a few movies belonging to other regional languages like Malayalam. She is the daughter of the Tamil actor and comedian, M. R. Radha and her elder sister, another actress of 1980s –Raadhika, who is married to popular actor Sarathkumar. Nirosha is married to popular Tamil actor Ramki since 1995 and the couple has no children. Most recently the couple launched a new restaurant.   

Nirosha was born in Colombo, Srilanka in 1971 to veteran Tamil actor M. R. Radha. All her three siblings - Raadhika Sarathkumar, Raju Radha and Mohan Ratha had stints in acting, mostly associated with Tamil cinema. Actor-Director Prathap Pothan was her former brother-in-law. She made her film debut in the year 1988 with the Tamil blockbuster directed by Mani ratnam – Natchathiram, in which Karthik, Prabhu and Amala played the lead roles. Nirosha played the supporting role of Anitha in this movie. Same year she made her Malayalam debut with the classic movie – Oru Muthassi Katha, where she played the lead role opposite actor Vineeth. This is one of her most memorable roles of her acting career.

She also acted in Kamal Haasan’s ‘Soorasamhaaram’. Later she went on to act in numerous successful movies, belonging to all south Indian languages. Ramki was paired with her in many movies like ‘Sendhoora Poovae’, ‘Paravaigal Palavidham’ etc and they got married in 1995. Then she took a break from the industry and returned back with mid-2000s doing supporting roles. She also appears in television serials.
