Nihar Pandya Biography

Nihar Pandya is an aspiring actor of Bollywood who is to debut silver screen with the Hindi remake of Tamil blockbuster ‘Kadhal Kondein (2002)’. The movie is directed by Selvaraghavan who made its Tamil version. Nihar has earlier made a friendly appearance in Hollywood production Marigold, starring Salman Khan. Nihar is best known in film circle as the first boyfriend of Deepika Padukone, before she moved to Mumbai. They have been dating for a while and were in a live-in relationship during Deepika’s struggling days. Later Deepika went on to become the biggest star in Bollywood while Nihar’s career failed to kick off. Yet both actors are still in touch and maintain a good friendship right now.    

He was born and brought up in Mumbai in an upper middle class family. He is the youngest child to his family. Academic was never in his mind and his real passion was sports. He was an athlete while at school and has represented Maharashtra in national level competitions. Slowly his interests graduated to cricket and he has played in Mumbai ‘Under 16’ and ‘Under 19’ teams. He played cricket while at school and in college. He was the captain of his college cricket team. His stint to entertainment happened while studying at NM College and he was a cricket star at college then.

His entry to drama and theater was just an incident. For Cricket team, only 45-50 days were approved for leaves, while for theatre 60 days were approved. So he enrolled for drama at college and gradually felt interest in acting. Later he used to assist his uncle who used to work for Hollywood films in India. That’s how he got a brief role in English flick ‘Marigold’. Very soon he reached Mumbai and enrolled at Anupam kher’s acting institute and that’s how his struggling days in Bollywood started. Priyanka Chopra suggested him to learn Kathak to correct rhythm. He also learnt Hindustani music. He is also known as the ex-boyfriend of Deepika Padukone and Gauhar Khan.
