Neelesh Misra Biography

Neelesh Misra is a journalist, writer, radio storyteller, scriptwriter, lyricist, poet, and photographer. He occupies a unique space on the Indian creative landscape and has worked as Deputy Executive Editor of Hindustan Times before quitting the office jobs to pursue a career in personal interests. He is co-founder-editor of Gaon Connection, India's rural newspaper and also has also founded a content creation company called Content Project Pvt. Ltd. He is most known for his very popular radio show, Yadoon Ka Idiotbox on BIG FM 92.7. His content creation company consists of a team of talented and creative people to write content for different media. And this group of writers is known by the name - ‘The Mandali’. He has written the script of blockbuster hit of 2012, Ek tha tiger and has also penned a few beautiful songs of Bollywood.

 

Neelesh was born and brought up in Nainital. He did his schooling from boarding school, St. Joseph's College, Nainital and attended Mahanagar Boys' Inter College, Lucknow. He completed graduation from DSB Government Degree College, Nainital in 1993 and later studied at Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Delhi. Then he pursued a career as a journalist and worked for 20 years or so covering news rekated to South Asia. His assignments also included Kashmir and Naxalite-dominated areas of central and eastern India. He has closely studied the Maoist insurgency in Nepal. He received the Ramnath Goenka Award For Excellence In Journalism and the K.C. Kulish Memorial Award in the year 2009.

 

He has also authored 5 books of which 3 belong to non-fiction while the rest two are fiction. Once Upon a Timezone and Neelesh Misra ka Yaad Sheher are his fiction works while The Absent State, End of the Line: The Story of the Killing of the Royals in Nepal and End of the Line: The Story of the Killing of the Royals in Nepal are non-fiction works. As a Bollywood lyricist, his noted songs are Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai and Chalo of Jism, Dil Mera Muft Ka of Agent Vinod, Kya Mujhe Pyaar Hai of Woh Lamhe and Anjaana Anjaani ki Kahani of Anjana Anjani.
