Neelam Upadhyaya Biography

Neelam Upadhyaya is a south Indian actress who appears in Tamil and Telugu films. She made her acting debut through Mr.7 in 2012. Later she appeared in Telugu movies - Action 3D and Pandagala Vachadu. She was also seen in Tamil movies - Unnodu Oru Naal and Om Shanthi Om. Upadhyaya made a breakthrough after her portfolio for MTV's Style Check was well received and film offers came pouring in. Most of her films failed in box office and her recent work Pandagala Vachadu got delayed as well.

Neelam hails from Gujarat. She is a successful model who got recognition through MTV's Style Check. She accepted film roles from south to put a foot in the acting field. She dreams to do a film in Bollywood and she believes that success in south Indian films can bag her roles in Bollywood. But she adds that this strategy is not applicable in all cases. She prefers to do good films without looking into language barriers, and Bollywood is not her first priority. She has not ruled out her Bollywood dreams as well. She also feels that south Indian cinema is not biased towards north Indian actresses, she has fun working here. She feels that luck is crucial to survive in film industry.

Though her debut film, Mr.7 in 2012 was a box office flop, she managed to find a strong foothold in the Telugu film industry. She credits luck for her success. She was featured in the first 3D film made in India through Action 3D released in 2013. It was only her second film. Unnodu Oru Naal the same year marked in Tamil film industry, and she was seen in one more Tamil film, Om Shanthi Om before she vanished from the screen. She was paired with Srikanth in this fantasy film.
