Nedumudi Venu Biography
Nedumudi Venu is an Indian film actor who concentrates in Malayalam film industry. He has also worked as screenplay writer and director.
He was born on 22nd May 1948 in Nedumudi, Alappuzha in Kerala. His original name is K. Venu Gopal. His father’s name is P.K. Kesavan and his mother’s name is P. Kunjikuttiyamma. He has four siblings. From his school days, he was interested in art and music and he also served as the member of the Kerala Students Union.
He got his graduation from Sanatana Dharma College at Alappuzha and started his career as a journalist in Kalaumudi. He also joined a tutorial college as a teacher. He shifted to Thiruvananthapuram and at that time got to know of Padmarajan, Aravindan and Bharath Gopi who are already in the film industry. Through them, he got a chance to enter the film industry as an actor. He married T. R. Susheela and has two children Unni and Kannan. He is at present living in Kochi in Kerala.
His debut film was Thambu in Malayalam in the year 1978. In the film career spanning over 35 years he has acted in more than 300 films. He got a break through the film Oridathoru Phayalwan by Padmarajan and started to perform character roles, especially in the role of the head of the family.
He has also written screenplays and stories for many films such as Theertham, Sruthi, Ambada Njane, Kattathe Kilikkoondu, Oru Katha Oru Nunnakkatha, Savidham, Angane Oru Avadhikkalathu, etc. He has also directed one film named Pooram.
Apart from the films of Malayalam industry, he has also acted in some Tamil films and some television series and has won many awards and honors for his performance. The film Saira was the only film that has been filmed at the Zimbabwe International Film Festival in 2007 from India and he got Best Actor Award for his role in that film.
