Naveen Jain Biography

Naveen K. Jain is a business executive and entrepreneur, better known as the founder and CEO of inome, related to IT. He is the founder of InfoSpace, Moon Express, and other companies. Inome was earlier known as Intelius. In 2000, Forbes ranked Jain 121 in the list of 400 Richest Americans with a net worth of 2.2 billion dollars. In 1999, Jain was awarded the Emerging Entrepreneur Award Winner for the Pacific Northwest Region by Ernst & Young. "Light of India Business Leadership Award" for "visionary entrepreneurship" by Times Magazine group and Lifetime Achievement Award at the Red Herring Global 2011 Conference are other major honours received by him. Jain is now married and settled in Medina, Washington.

 

Naveen K. Jain was born on 6 September 1959 in UP, India. His childhood days were spent in UP, Delhi and later at Roorkee, where he earned an engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology in the year 1979. In 1982 he moved to Jamshedpur where he completed MBA at XLRI School of Business and Human Resources. One year later he left India to US for a business-exchange program. He worked in various US based companies, most notably Convergent Technologies and Tandon Computer Corporation. In 1989, Jain joined Microsoft in Redmond, Washington as program manager.

 

He initially began working on OS/2 and then moved on to several of Microsoft's flagship products. Jain left Microsoft in 1996 to form InfoSpace. Same year he founded InfoSpace and served as Chief Executive Officer until 2000. His personal worth rose from almost one billion dollars in 1999. In 2003, Jain co-founded Intelius, a Bellevue, Washington-based Web security firm.
