Nassar Biography

Nassar is an Indian actor who also produced and directed some films. He has appeared in films of many languages like Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada. He is a polyglot and can speak Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Arabic, English, Hindi and Urdu.

 

He was born on 5th March 1958 in Meylerippakkam village in Chingleput in Madras State. His parents are Mehaboob Basha and Mumtaz Beghum. He studied at St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School in Chengalpattu. He went to Chennai and completed his intermediate from Madras Christian College. He then started his career with Indian Air Force.

 

He joined the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce’s Film Institute and Tamil Nadu Institute for Film and Television Technology and came out with gold medals. When he was searching for the opportunity to act in films he had to do odd jobs. He appeared before the screen for the first time through Doordarshan.

 

He debuted into film industry by acting in the protagonist character in the feature film Panangaadu. He then acted in the film Kalyana Agadhigal by K. Balachandar. He acted with many important heroes of Tamil film industry like Rajinikanth, Karthik, Kamal Haasan, etc. He continued to act in villain roles and character roles. His directorial debut was through the film Avatharam.

 

Some of the films that he has acted include Dookudu, Shakthi, Moksha, Komaram Puli, Don Seenu, Athadu, Pokiri, Sye, Bhageeratha, Athithi, Golimaar, Chanti, Simhadri, Don, Panchakshari, Tamassur, Bindaas, Ajay, Mohini, Firaaq, Nishabad, Phir Milenge, Chachi 420, Quick Gun Murugan, etc. He directed the films Pop Carn, Maayan, Devathai and Avathaaram.

 

He won the Best Actor Award for the film Aavaaram Poo, Best Villain Award for the film Thamizh, Best Supporting Actor award for the film Em Magan and Nandi Award from the Government of Andhra Pradesh for his role in the film Chanti. He also received Kalaimamani Award from the Government of Tamil Nadu and Kalaichelvan Award from South Indian Actors Association.
