Narendra Jha Biography

Narendra Jha is a veteran actor associated with Indian television since Doordarshan days. He has also played a few Bollywood film roles. Over the years he has played both lead roles and supporting roles. He became quite popular through the roles he played on Doordarshan in the 1990s. He played the title role of Captain House in the fantasy series of Doordarshan in the late 1990s, which made him a household name. Aamrapali in 2002 and Jai hanuman (1997) are other noted early works on Doordarshan. Havan as Hari Om Baapji and Hum Ne Li Hai- Shapath as ACP Karanveer also need special mention. In 2015, he was seen playing a cope in Vidya Balan starrer Hamari Adhuri Kahani (2015) and was also seen in Ghayal Once Again (2016)

Narendra Jha was born in Madhubani, Bihar. He completed graduation in History from JNU, New Delhi. Though he first thought of becoming a teacher, he later realized his dreams to become an actor. He was encouraged by his father to pursue his dreams in entertainment field and also joined him in Sri Ram Center in New Delhi for an acting course. In 1993 he shifted to Mumbai and started off with modelling assignments and finally landed to television.

Captain House on Doordarshan in 1998 was his big break, where he replaced the male protagonist Kanwaljeet Singh after a few episodes. Told the story of a haunted house where a family comes to stay, the show included comic and fantasy elements as well, which entertained the audience. The show was produced by Balaji telefilms. He essayed lead role Ravan in the mythological show - Ravan on Zee TV (2006-2008). After playing lead and supporting roles in a few shows, he got the show, Havan in 2011 where he played the male lead - Hari Om Baapji. It’s his most popular role till now. Associated with Bollywood, he played the role of Dr. Hilal Meer (Shahid Kapoor's father) in Haider. Mohenjo Daro and Raees are his upcoming releases.
