Narendra Chanchal Biography 
Narendra Chanchal is an Indian singer who specializes in Punjabi bhentein. He is most known for devotional songs. He has done playback singing for a few Bollywood songs of 70’s too. For the song, "Beshak Mandir Masjid" from Rishi Kapoor – Dimple Kapadia starrer Bobby, he won his single Filmfare awards for Male playback singer in the year 1973. This particular song was his debut song in playback singing and he also won "Bobby Award" for this number. R. D. Burman was its music director. He has received "Raj Kapoor Memorial Award” and most recently he was made an honorary citizen of the US state of Georgia. Narendra has released the book 'Midnight Singer' which narrates his life and struggles to achieve success in singing.
Narendra Chanchal was born in a religious Punjabi family in Namak Mandi, Amritsar. His mother was devotee of goddess Durga. So, from early childhood Narendra was interested in bhajans and he was grown up in a religious atmosphere. But his father advised him to give importance to studies than music. He was a mischievous boy in the class and teacher gave him the name, Chanchal. Later he added this nickname along with his name Narendra. He learnt music from Sri Prem Tikha, Amritsar. Very soon he started singing bhajans and aartis. His first big break was through Bobby in the year 1973.
After that he has sung a few songs in Bollywood. The most popular songs are - "Jai Mata Di (Tu Ne Mujhe Bulaya Sherowali ye)" of Asha along with Mohd. Rafi, "Baki Kuchh Bacha To Mahangayi Maar Gayi" of Roti kapada aur Makan aside Lata Mangeshkar, Mukesh and Jani babu, "Chalo Bulawa Aaya Hain Mata Ne Bulaya Hain" of Avatar with Asha Bhosle and Mahendra Kapoor and "Huye Hain Kuchh Aise Wo Humse Paraye" with Kumar Sanu and Sadhna Sargam.
Chanchal is a good poet and writer and his writings are published in newspaper. Though he got big break in Bollywood through Bobby, he concentrated on devotional music.
