Narayan Dutt Tiwari Biography

Narayan Dutt Tiwari is an Indian politician who served as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh thrice in 1970s and 1980s and Chief Minister of Uttarkhand from 2002 to 2007. He belongs to Indian National Congress party and served as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh from 2007 to 2009 and had to resign from this post due to a sex scandal.

He was born on 18th October 1925 in Baluti village of Nainital district. His father is Poornanand who worked in the forest department and joined Non-cooperation movement later on. He studied in different schools like M. B. School at Haldwani, E. M. High School at Bareilly and C. R. S. T. High School at Nainital.

He took part in Indian Independence struggle and was arrested on 14th December 1942 and released after 15 months. Then he joined Allahabad University and got his M. A. in political science. Then he received LLB degree from the same university. During this time he was elected as the President of Student’s Union of the Allahabad University. From 1945 to 1949, he served as the Secretary of All India Students Congress.

In the first election after independence in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 1952, he was elected from the Nainital constituency. In 1957 he was again elected from the same constituency and became the leader of the Opposition in the Assembly. He joined Indian National Congress in 1963 and in the election of 1965 he was elected from the Kashipur, Uttarkhand constituency.

He became the Minister of Government of Uttar Pradesh and in the Chaudhary Charan Singh Government, he served as the Minister for Finance and Parliamentary Affairs. When the National Youth Centre was established by Jawaharlal Nehru, he remained the first President of Indian Youth Congress from the year 1969 to 1971. He was appointed as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh on 19th August 2007 and later resigned this post on 26th December 2009.

The video of Tiwari with three young women in bed was telecasted in the TV channel ABN Andhra Jyothi on 25th December 2009. A man claimed to be his son in the extramarital affair of Tiwari filed a suit in the court. He denied the charges against him.
